Nice people good food I had the fish

Cook didn’t want to cook. Server lied to me about the time they stopped serving chicken (it was 7:45pm), and then the girls were on their phones around the corner giggling/cutting up etc. After sitting there for 10 minutes with no one showing up to take my order, I got up and walked out. Thought it odd that the place was empty. Now I know why. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great service, great decor, great prices. Food was too salty. If not for that or would have been a really good meal.

Burnt biscuits, like I couldn't put enough hot sauce on them to cover up the taste. Wafer this slices of bacon that crumble when you pick them up. Bagged frozen potatoes instead of fresh cut, which sadly was the best part of the meal. The service however was good, and fast, so if you're in a hurry and don't really care, it just has to be food, well then it's edible, not good, but edible.

Coleslaw — delicious. Fries — old and re-heated.Chicken — wasn’t crispy, but had good flavor. Mac-n-cheese — old and re-heated. Service — eh. Environment — country style The waitress was sitting down when I walked in. She told told me to sit anywhere (from the chair she was sitting in). I had to walk over to her table to tell her that I wanted a to go order. I was one of two people in the restaurant — I understand making a pan of Mac-n-cheese and needing to use it... but dude, at least make fresh fries so that I’ll want to come back. You’ll build up a customer base during those hours and then you won’t have food sitting around getting old. Considering it’s called “Hen House” and the chicken wasn’t outstanding, 2 stars.

👌The food was VERY good: hot, fresh, and tasty!! (4 star food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). Service was so-so.. no attitude or anything, just very rushed and unfriendly (2 star service⭐️⭐️). And the dining room needs a serious scrub down!!🤢 (1 star cleanliness⭐️)

Country fried steak, was great

Bad experience. Over priced, semi-satisfactory breakfast with terrible watery orange juice from concentrate. Poor service, server was obviously on drugs and had noticeable needle marks on her hand and arm.

Their food was really good. Every thing seemed homemade. And very reasonable prices. And good service.

Well , we had passed around this place for years and for some reason , no time , or the place was closed never had chance to stop until today thinking it is going to be really good , country good , homemade we were uuu , I ordered chefs Sala with crispy chicken , if I didn't ask for chicken could be side salad with tomato , an egg, and spring chess, so I also ordered small veg soup very ssalty oh she forgot and she gave me chilli soup so I took it I didn't said nothing i like my wife ordered fry chicken stake with mass potatoes and Mack and cheese , very small piece chicken that was good , mass potatoes old , mack chess heat up with macroway no good , she ordered cream of broccoli old she sent back so she ordered veg soup that one that I told about too salty , onestly this is not what expect , they need to improve they are on a good location .

Had been looking forward to eating here I’m in a truck & have passed it several times we decided we had time today & wow what a mistake that was .the service was subpar at best & the food everything I ordered was burnt & I mean that really takes a talented cook to completely destroy a bacon cheese burger & fries I have a feeling if they could have burnt my soda they would have . So in other words if your looking for burnt everything come on in , if not there’s a Denny’s across the street I bet you can guess where we’re going next time

Food is always hot and fresh the service is always pleasant and there is room for quite a few big trucks

You won't leave "Madder than a wet hen" when you come to this place! The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming right when you walk in the door. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. They constantly checked on me to make sure I had everything that I needed. The food was so good! You get huge portions and at a very reasonable price. The restrooms were clean, tidy, and well stocked. Bonus: there's parking in the back for truckers! Nice! Highly recommend that you stop by, you'll love it! P.S. Don't forget to get a slice of pie while you're there.

Clean and friendly with great food! The portion size was just about perfect in my opinion although I had plenty leftover. Our waitress did mix up our tea as one was sweet tea and one unsweetened but was SUPER about it and on her A-game. Best part is the adorable red barn look...I had to have pics to show kiddos I ate at the Big Red Barn!! Those with kids who love Dora know what I mean, lol!

Hen House isn't just for breakfast. I had a 2 pork chop dinner with mashed potatoes side salad and cottage cheese. All items were fresh and tasty. Anyone that has been to several restaurants knows that especially with the lettuce for the salad and the cottage cheese knows that truly means something. The (only) waitress was friendly but working herself ragged taking care of everyone. I think there were only 3 employees there during dinner time and yet I still managed to be served good and tasty food in a timely fashion. Dont let the lack of curb appeal keep you from it. TRY IT ALREADY. I hope you have the same positive experience I did.

Great home cooked meals. Delicious fried chicken, fantastic all you can fish (today), fresh rolls and soup. Service was personable and exceptional. When I'm in town again, I'll be back

Old mom and pop restaurant. Some truck parking. Wasn't impressed. Omelet was paper thin and crispy on edges. Only half of bacon order was crispy as asked for. B&G was okay. Waitress did give discount.

I really wanted to give this more stars but I am basing my rating on the food. I ordered the fried portabella mushrooms, which was great, and the country fried steak with corn, mashed potatoes, and chili. The corn was overdone and rubbery, the potatoes were bland and the worst was the steak. I had to tear off the batter they fried because it was like licking a salt block for a deer. When I told the waitress, she said they make the batter very salty and she gets complaints all the time. If people don't like it why is it not changed? An over salted dish is generally universal to judge. She kindly took 10% off my bill and said anything with "country" in front of it is salty so beware. I have been traveling for 7 years and have tasted the cuisine from 4 countries. If you like salt (a lot) and pepper, and only salt and pepper, this is for you.

The food was, well, breakfast food nothing overly great. Ate the country boy, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 b&g and home fries. The service was pretty low though. We sat there for 7 mins before they got to us and said sorry didn't see you. All while serving 4 other tables around us. Then it took another 4 mins to get coffee. Coffee was really good and they have the shaved ice for your water. The building was rather old looking could use some work inside and out. Last but not least the very odd placemats that had "let us pray" and a prayer on them. It had the lovely old trucker dinner vibe that horror movies have. Just before you find an ear on your hamburger. I would return but really why.

The service was fine. Friendly folks. I observed the carpet was clean and vacuumed. We had the chilli mac with texas toastThe country boy breakfast with sausage links and american potatoes. A short stack of blueberry pancakes.The american potatoes were my favorite item. The pancakes tasted as I'd expect from a diner type restaurant - pretty good. The biscuits and gravy that came with the countey boy was actually cold but the flavor was pretty good. The chilli mac was apparently "okay" to "good."

Had breakfast on Monday, the biscuits we dark brown on the outside and doughy on the inside. The hash brown were over cooked and hard to chew. My husband's onion rings were a pile of mushed up crust. We would never go back.

Really cozy and relaxing restaurant. Great food with hard working cooks and wait staff they really make you feel welcome. Serves delicious breakfast all day as well which I love also.

Great burgers. Like going back in time to a quaint country town. I'll be back for sure. Breakfasts looked fantastic as others were getting those. I'll be back to try the biscuits and gravy next. Thanks to Debbie Mullins, a regular, for suggesting we go there.

Food was great best Mac n Cheese ever had from a restaurant

Ordered the house special fish and chips. Fish was deep fried so bad there was no meat left.

The classic Midwestern dinner. Farm inspired fried chicken with an old recipe with many side options. Breading for chicken is amazing. Taste like buttermilk. Even serves beer.
